The Harcourts Foundation Partners with Miracle Babies

The Harcourts Foundation has proudly announced its support for the Miracle Babies Foundation by funding the production and delivery of 100 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Survival Packs for families with premature or sick newborns at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

The survival packs are designed to provide critical guidance, comfort, and resources for families enduring the emotional and physical challenges of neonatal intensive care.

Each pack includes the guidebook “Nurture – guiding you through your hospital journey with a premature or sick newborn”, which offers families a deeper understanding of neonatal care to help them make informed decisions and navigate their traumatic experience.

Alongside the guidebook are a range of thoughtfully selected items, including journals, milestone stickers, hand-knitted items for premature babies, and a picture book to encourage bonding and facilitate development.

Discussing the initiative, Pauline Smith, Head of the Harcourts Foundation, shared her thoughts on the project’s impact. "We are proud to support Miracle Babies Foundation in providing essential resources to families during a challenging time.

These NICU Survival Packs offer comfort, support, and vital information to families navigating the NICU journey," she explained.

The importance of these packs cannot be understated. For parents, the NICU environment often feels overwhelming, with its array of medical monitors, alarms, ventilators, and complex medical procedures.

Many parents face limitations in physical contact or care for their baby, alongside the anxiety of having their newborn dependent on expert medical intervention. Babies can remain in NICU for weeks or even months, heightening stress and the risk of postnatal mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

The Miracle Babies Foundation has been a lifeline for thousands of families facing such scenarios. The NICU Survival Packs supported by Harcourts Foundation aim to alleviate isolation, provide clarity in uncertain environments, and offer hope to families as they endure this taxing period.

"This grant exemplifies our commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of those in need," Ms Smith added.

The initiative is poised to make a meaningful difference to 100 families whose babies are fighting for their lives, affirming both the Harcourts Foundation’s and Miracle Babies Foundation’s shared mission to support and empower families during these critical journeys.
