New Zealander Ned Allison Crowned as 2023 Australasian Auctioneering Champion
In a thrilling competition held in Auckland, Ned Allison of Harcourts Grenadier – Christchurch City has emerged as the victorious Australasian Auctioneering Champion for 2023.
Outperforming top auctioneers from New Zealand and Australia, Ned Allison, a born and bred Christchurch auctioneer, showcased exceptional talent and skill throughout the competition. Ned secured his place in the Australasian Championships alongside a fellow New Zealander Mark McGoldrick, Harcourts Holmwood - Ilam 2, and representatives from each Australian state.
In the heats of the competition on Monday, Ned and his fellow competitors were challenged with calling a complicated auction, designed to test their quick thinking, attention to detail, and legal expertise. These auctions pushed the boundaries, with complex bids and distractions thrown in to truly challenge the auctioneers.
To emerge victorious, competitors had to demonstrate unwavering composure under pressure, master the art of rapid mental calculations, captivate entertain the audience, while staying within a designated time frame and answering all questions flawlessly - all while making everything seem effortless.
After being selected as one of the five finalists, Ned Allison once again showcased his exceptional skills in the finals, ultimately being crowned the esteemed Australasian Auctioneering Champion.
Ned, an auctioneer, shareholder, and sales manager in Harcourts Grenadier – Christchurch City, brings with him a decade of auction calling experience. While he has previously competed at the national level, this victory marks his first Australasian prize in auctioneering.
Expressing his gratitude, Ned credits his success to his rigorous preparation and extends his heartfelt appreciation to Phil McGoldrick, Andrew North and Mark Sumich, as well as his supportive colleagues at Grenadier.
