Kiwi Social Media Personality Mr. Cigar Puts Renovated Heritage Apartments on the Market Following Remarkable Restoration Journey

Two Auckland flats, recently refurbished by well-known Instagram personality "Mr Cigar" and his partner, are now available for purchase.

In an upcoming auction slated for May 29th, two properties housed within a renovated heritage warehouse at 31 Sale Street and 31D Sale Street are set to go under the hammer. The auction is being managed by agents Trent and Julie Quinton from Bayleys.

Designer Ron Goh, popularly dubbed "Mr Cigar", and Matt O'Brien meticulously renovated apartments in a notable landmark building over several years. Goh, known for his innovative designs, shared the restoration journey with his extensive following of over 100,000 on social media, offering a unique glimpse into the transformation process.

Sharing to Instagram “I’m writing with a mix of emotions as I share a special update with you all. My beloved lofty apartment, the backdrop to so many of my interior design adventures and cherished moments, is now looking for its next chapter.".

“This space has been more than just wall windows – it’s been a canvas for creativity, a sanctuary, and a place where inspiration truly comes to life.”

He added: “Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Here’s to new beginnings and the endless possibilities that lie ahead!”

Each residence displays its own distinctive style, capturing various iconic views of Auckland's famous sites. The couple resides in the larger property, known as D, while offering the smaller one as a rental for visitors.

Real estate agent Julie Quinton has expressed excitement about bringing two distinct apartments to market, tailored for buyers with varying needs and financial capacities. Quinton noted, "We are absolutely in love with these properties and are super excited to bring them to market."

Her colleague, Trent, highlighted the unique appeal of the smaller apartment as an ideal choice for individuals seeking a convenient 'lock-and-leave' property or a source of Airbnb income. In contrast, the larger apartment upstairs caters to those wishing to downsize without sacrificing the distinctive character of their home.

Quinton also pointed out the significant advantage of the properties having undergone high-standard renovations and structural enhancements.

She addressed a common issue in older buildings, where modifying structural elements like joinery can be challenging.

According to Quinton, these apartments have already been upgraded with such enhancements, including the installation of double glazing, making them more appealing and functional.
