How agents can boost their income this Summer

It's summertime, and that means that the real estate market is heating up! Whether prices are climbing or falling in your submarket, there are three simple strategies you can follow to maintain (or even increase) your income this summer.

1. Stay focused on your niche.

The first step to boosting your income is to make sure that you are focusing your efforts on the right market.

If you're trying to be a "jack of all trades" and work with every type of client, you're going to spread yourself too thin and end up earning less money in the long run.

Narrow your focus to one or two types of clients or properties and become an expert in that area. Not only will this make it easier for you to stand out from the competition, but you'll also close more deals and earn more money per deal.

2. Keep your marketing fresh.

Just because it's summer doesn't mean that your marketing efforts should take a vacation! In fact, now is the time to ramp up your marketing so that you can reach as many potential clients as possible. Take advantage of seasonal events and activities to create new marketing materials (e.g., Fourth of July postcards, summertime e-newsletters, etc.). If you keep your marketing fresh and relevant, you'll be top of mind when clients are ready to buy or sell.

3. Stay in touch with past clients.

Your past clients are some of your best sources of Referrals and repeat business, so make sure you stay in touch with them throughout the year! Summer is a great time to reach out with a handwritten note, e-mail, or phone call just to check in and see how they're doing. If you stay connected with past clients, they'll be more likely to think of you when they or someone they know is ready to buy or sell a property.

By following these three simple strategies, you can maintain (or even increase) your income this summer! Stay focused on your niche, keep your marketing fresh, and stay in touch with past clients, and you'll be well on your way to a prosperous summer season.
