Home Up for Auction with a $1 Reserve to Support Mental Health for New Zealand Tradespeople
A fully furnished 55-square-metre tiny home, featuring two bedrooms, an office, a bathroom, and a stylish kitchen and lounge area, is set to be auctioned with a starting bid of just a gold coin.
Valued at $200,000, this compact home offers a unique opportunity to support a crucial cause, with all proceeds going towards the mental health of New Zealand's tradies.
The auction supports Live Well Build Well, a collaborative initiative launched in 2022 by the Mental Health Foundation and ACC. This programme has already made a significant impact, assisting tens of thousands of residential construction workers in strengthening their mental resilience and addressing issues related to depression and anxiety.
Project Manager Rafael Caso has announced a partnership with Unit2go to raise essential funds for this initiative. “This financial boost is significant for us. The important work we do will now be able to reach a greater number of people,” said Caso. He highlighted the mental health challenges that tradies often face due to the demanding and unpredictable nature of their work.
Mark Ross, CEO of Unit2go, expressed strong support for the initiative. “In our community, we all know a tradie who’s faced mental health challenges, so there’s been overwhelming support for this cause. I also want to extend a massive thank you to all the suppliers who contributed time and materials to the unit. This has truly been a team effort.”
The tiny home is fully equipped with furniture and appliances, including contributions from Bed, Bath & Beyond, comfortable bedding, an office desk, wardrobe systems, a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine.
Potential buyers can view the unit from June 12-15, with the auction taking place on June 16. Don’t miss this chance to own a beautifully furnished home while supporting an essential cause.
