30 properties sell under the hammer to kick off auction year
The year of auctions has kicked off with a bang as more than $25 million in property sold under the hammer at Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge’s auction event The Day 7.0.
With Ray White auctioneers Sam Steele and Cameron Brain on the gavel, The Day saw a whopping 46 properties go under the hammer, with a clearance rate of 65 per cent.
Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge co-owner Tom Rawson said their seventh The Day auction event was a huge success.
“With 46 auctions called and over $26 million in sales, our latest mega auction event proves once again that competitive bidding delivers exceptional results,” Mr Rawson said.
“We had a massive 316 registered bidders, with some properties attracting fierce competition - like 5 Maitland Place, Favona, which saw 115 bids in just nine minutes.
“With 30 properties sold under the hammer and an average price increase of 5.59 per cent from on-the-market to sold shows the strength of our auction process.”
One of The Day’s most outstanding auctions was for 48 Browns Road, Manurewa which sold under the hammer for $1.315 million. Ray White selling agent Levani Lum-On said the property received a lot of interest with 14 registered bidders, seven active bidders.
“It was a premium development site, which ticked all the boxes with services on-site, no flood zone, and good street frontage,” Mr Lum-On said.
“The winning bid went to a local developer.
“The home had been in the vendor’s family for over 70 years, they were retiring and decided it was time to move on.”
There was a huge amount of bidding at The Day 7.0, with a total of 1,536 bids recorded.
The property which saw the most competitive bidding was 5 Maitland Place, Favona which saw 115 bids over nine minutes before selling under the hammer for $841,000. The property was marketed by Ray White Manukau agents Pat Lapalapa and Jerry Faifua.
Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge co-owner Adam Thomson said The Day’s auctions seemed like a barometer for this year’s property market.
“From first-home buyers to seasoned investors, this event demonstrated the power of auctions,” Mr Thomson said.
“Our auction strategy continues to deliver premium outcomes for sellers in today’s market.”
“It felt like we had a lot of the market watching the outcomes to see how 2025 will unfold. Yesterday's results confirm 2025 is looking positive for the property market.”
Ray White Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere and Mangere Bridge sales manager Richie Lewis said it wouldn’t be long before buyers had another chance to purchase at their next The Day auction event.
“Our next step is to connect with the 280 plus buyers who missed out on securing a property at The Day 7.0,” Mr Lewis said.
“With our next mega auction event set for February 26, our focus is now on working closely with our clients to help them secure their next purchase."
